Vote Labour Thursday 4th May

Katie Weston & Paul Weston

Katie Weston

I was born in Billingham South, on York Crescent, and have spent  most of my life in Billingham, attending Northfield School. I am a  qualified Further Education teacher, I previously worked as a supply  teacher and currently still work in education with an exam board,  alongside tutoring A Level part-time.

I am also secretary of Housing Action Teesside, a renters’ union,  which supports private and social tenants across the Tees Valley. I  believe good quality housing is a human right, regardless of if you  own or rent your home.

I look forward to meeting as many Billingham South residents in  the next couple of months and I hope to hear from you with any  concerns you have about the ward.

Paul Weston

I am a Billingham resident, living in the ward for 10 years, and a  former Tristar / Vela Homes electrician and worked for many years  maintaining homes across the borough, including in Billingham  South, so have a firm understanding of the issues which face  residents, such as housing and anti-social behaviour.

I currently teach electrical engineering, which gives me first-hand  experience of the impact of disastrous Tory education policy and an  awareness of problems young people face, such as poor transport  links and other barriers to education.

As a proud trade union shop steward and community activist, I will  fight for this community to have the decent jobs, services and  housing it deserves.

Our Key Pledges for Stockton on Tees
1. Help those hardest hit by the Cost of Living crisis.
2. Campaign for more police on the street and work with partners to tackle drug and alcohol related crime and anti-social behaviour in the community.
3. Deliver more affordable and social housing.
4. Support the campaign for a new North Tees Hospital
5. Work with other Tees Valley Councils to provide better public transport
6. Complete the planned improvements to all our Town Centres/High Streets.

STOCKTON ON TEES LABOUR DELIVERING FOR YOU

While local Conservatives support millions of pounds of cuts to local services and their colleagues in Parliament preside over the biggest squeeze to living standards since records began, the Stockton on Tees Labour Party, whether in your community or the Town Hall, is delivering for residents.

  • Maintained and protected weekly bin collections.
  • Invested in CCTV and Enforcement Officers to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • Supported residents and businesses during the pandemic.
  • Opened the Globe Theatre in 2021, which has been a big hit, making £6m of ticket sales.
  • Safeguarded a network of 9 libraries from Tory cuts.
  • Delivered affordable housing on brownfield sites across the Borough.
  • Invested in redevelopment to support communities of our six towns and businesses.
  • Reduced and kept frozen Councillor allowances.
